I have been flying the Quasar Lite, which is powered by the HKS 700-E, for about 130 flight hours. It is one of the most dependable and efficient engines I have ever flown with. Unlike most aviation engine the HKS does not consume any oil. In the 130 hours of use I have only added about 1/2 a quart of oil. The Japanese really know how to build an engine. Just change the oil every 25 hours and the engine will last to TBO with no problems. In fact I had the chance to talk to a lot of aviation enthusiast at the last airshow in Oshkosh Wisconsin and get their feedback on the engine. Of the hundreds of people I talked to I heard nothing but praise on the engine. I have flown from Florida to Wisconsin and back; to Dallas as well with no complaints on the nominal fuel burn. The Quasar is a phenomenal airplane that couldn't have a better engine.
